Orbit4’s X400 Challenge culminates in high-energy industry finale at Wyndley Leisure Centre
April 1, 2026
Orbit4 has successfully brought its industry-wide X400 Challenge Campaign to a close, with a high-energy culmination event at Wyndley Leisure Centre (on Tuesday 31st March) that united operators, suppliers and fitness professionals in a celebration of teamwork, resilience and community.
Hosted in partnership with Serco Leisure, the final event saw teams from across the sector come together to complete the demanding 3.2km X400 format—featuring running, functional movements and relay-style teamwork.
Industry collaboration at its best
Launched on National Fitness Day back in September 25, the X400 Challenge was designed to connect the fitness industry through shared physical challenge. The culmination event delivered on that ambition, with strong participation and standout performances across the board.
Kev Forester, Head of Operations at Orbit4, said:
“The X400 Challenge was created to bring the industry together through something positive, physical and collaborative. The turnout and energy at the culmination event were fantastic to see and truly epitomised what the campaign was all about.”
The culmination event was widely praised by participants and organisers alike for its atmosphere and sense of community.
Jamie Townsend, National Health and Fitness Manager for Serco Leisure, said:
“We are proud to have supported Orbit4’s X400 Challenge, hosted at Wyndley Leisure Centre which we operate in partnership with Birmingham Community Leisure Trust. It was a fantastic opportunity to bring teams from the wider fitness industry together, and contribute to an event that celebrates strength, community and collaboration.
“We were delighted to offer our athletics track, take part in the challenge, and help make the day a success. A huge well-done to everyone who competed, supported and brought great energy from start to finish.”
Participants push their limits
Teams representing organisations including Matrix Fitness UK, Love Recruitment, EZ Loyalty, Gym Gear, PT Loop and RiskHQ took part, with impressive times recorded across both full and reduced team formats.
Participants took to social media to reflect on the challenge:
Dan Retter, EZ Loyalty, said:
“That absolutely battered me – but it was an awesome event. A brilliant challenge and great to be involved.”
Danny Melling, Matrix Fitness UK, said:
“It was great to be out with the team at the X400 Challenge. Huge thanks to Serco Leisure for hosting and to the Orbit4 team for organising such a fantastic event. It was a tough challenge, but a brilliant opportunity to get outdoors and practice what we preach.”
The physical demands of the challenge were matched by its sense of fun and camaraderie.
Helen Horton, Love Recruitment, said:
“It was pretty tough but great fun. A fantastic way to get moving and tap into that competitive side.”
A challenge built on community
With final results currently being collated, Orbit4 will announce the official leaderboard and overall standings in the coming weeks, alongside details of the campaign prize draw.
